back to top@littlefox 17.2.6? Did that yesterday :p
@benaryorg at least I'm not running the ceph overhead for storage connected to a single computer :P
@littlefox Overhead? In this house we call it "redundancy on OSD level" :blobCat_oh_no:
@benaryorg that's called a RAID. Usually.
@littlefox Yeah, but RAID sucks. It doesn't expose a filesystem directly (unless you use BTRFS raid which is the thing I moved away from), you can't easily have different parts of a filesystem or block devices on SSD/HDD and move them in between, you can't have S3 out of the box (which I'm using), monitoring any other system is a pain compared to Ceph, and most RAID implementations can't even deal with differently sized devices.
@benaryorg besides the native S3 and Filesystem built-in, LVM and node-exporter does the trick
besides S3 and SSD+HDD mix and match, zfs does the trick
.... yea ok
but please just add another node /o\
@littlefox @benaryorg ok but openzfs has been getting kinda sketchier lately
@nyanotech @benaryorg do you refer to anything particular?
@littlefox @benaryorg there's been like, 3 different data corruption bugs i've heard about in the past year
@nyanotech @benaryorg ah yea, but no worries - because they never release things, that stuff never ends up on any computer anyway 🙃
