jump to expanded postwhat's a good vps provider these days
@nyanotech I'm based (in Europe) so personally I'd recommend a mix of OVH Cloud, and Hetzner Cloud, though Netcup does offer really competitive pricing, however I'm also a big fan of self-hosting your nodes (slap LXD on a host node and run system containers and VMs on it) for which I'm pretty much stuck with OVH (as well as it's other brands Kimsufi and SoYouStart).
@nyanotech Oh, also, I forgot to cancel my Netcup server so currently I have a server which is literally turned off at all times and it will remain valid until March next year. It includes two IPv4 addresses and two IPv6 /64 nets as well as 2 cores of AMD EPYC™ 7702, 8G of ECC DDR4 and 160G SSD. If you're not planning to do anything that would cause legal issues I'd be willing to provide that VPS server to you.
@benaryorg @nyanotech I second the recommendation netcup, their root servers (which are VMs but reserved resources, 1 vCPU == 1 real CPU) are really really fast
disclaimer: they pay my rent
@nyanotech GalaxyGate!
@nyanotech we just use DigitalOcean dunno if they’re good, whatever you do I suggest not using Linode
@irides oh, what'd they do this time?
@nyanotech @irides didn't they get bought by akami?
